Objectives
- To advance scholarship, research and knowledge in all areas of communication, media, journalism (print and broadcast), public relations and advertising.
- To publish books, journals, monographs and periodicals.
- To organize conferences, workshops, symposia, specialised trainings and special events.
- To serve as an agency for sharing development information through research, designs, productions and any other strategies.
- To provide trainings and consultancies in all areas of communication and the mass media.
- To give awards, appreciate excellence and notable contributions to development and communication at community, national and international levels.
Commitment
The Association is committed to:
- Enhancing knowledge, research and development through the prism of media and communication, for society’s social, political and economic progress.
- Fostering networking, collaboration and consultations amongst media and communication scholars, practitioners and related disciplines towards growing and applying communication and social thoughts.
- Creating a bridge between the town and the gown, for integrating media and communication notions and ideas towards national and international development.
- Fostering partnerships with similar groups in the national and international spaces towards a harmony of purpose and for universalism.
- Encouraging the flow and sharing of knowledge, through personal and group interactions in workshops, seminars, conferences and through organizational and other peer-reviewed research journals and publications.

Current Membership
Our members are spread across all the universities and polytechnics in Nigeria and numerous public and private organizations and international institutions. As at 16th April 2026, the Association had 471 registered members spread across 138 institutions of higher learning in Nigeria, nine in foreign universities and 20 in local/international organizations.
